Assignment 3--My Entrepreneurship Story

In my 19 years on this planet I've been exposed to a lot of entrepreneurship in one form or another. The story I'd like to share with you all, though, involves the experience of having my parents as former entrepreneurs. Growing up my parents had many entrepreneurial ventures that I had been around. Them, along with a few other family members, were owners of a small Latin restaurant chain in the Miami, Florida area called El Tropico. Additionally, my parents were heavily involved in the real estate industry, purchasing and selling properties. On the side, they purchased and ran a TV production warehouse.

Being entirely honest, the reason I'm taking this course is because my adviser told me I needed to. That being said though, I am actually very excited to learn the basics of being an entrepreneur. Who knows, perhaps I'll go start a business when December comes around.

  1. Hey Jake,
A restaurant chain, real estate, and a TV warehouse is an interesting combination, sounds like your parents were super adventurous. They were probably great role models for you too. I might have to stop buy El Tropico the next time I'm in Miami. But even if you're only taking this course to fulfill a requirement, I'm sure you'll learn a lot that can help you in whatever you end up doing.

  2. I think it's awesome that your parents are entrepreneurs. There is one locally-owned Latin restaurant in my hometown, and it is one of my favorite places to eat whenever I visit Brooksville. I'm sure your parents are very hardworking and could teach you a lot about entrepreneurship. Maybe you will follow in their footsteps and open a business of your own one day.
